This 6 week (7 sessions) course is targeted to teens and pre-teens who have already completed an introductory paddling course or camp on the lake and want to try whitewater (river) kayaking and/or slalom paddling. Did you know that slalom paddling is an excellent way to improve your paddling skills? And it's fun!!

We start on Cultus Lake in September (Friday 20th & 27th) then progress to the Chilliwack River for basic moving water skills. In October some lessons will be in our local slalom race course (October Fridays 4th, 11th, 19th PLUS Saturday 20th).
On the final weekend October 26th participants can take park in our annual Mamquam Race Day Festival - a fun community slalom event on the Mamquam River (Squamish). Registration for & instruction at this event is included in the course fee (transport to-from the event is NOT included)
You will learn river safety including safe swimming techniques on the river and whitewater paddling techniques.
All equipment provided. Come prepared to get wet!!

Safety is our #1 priority - there will be a maximum student: instructor ratio of 6:1 on the river, with two certified instructors, OR one instructor + 1 experienced safety boater on every river run with novice paddlers. All river paddles are weather and water-level dependent.
