Details

The Rich Weiss Memorial Race has been BC's premier annual slalom race for 20yrs.

The race is named for American Olympian Richard Weiss who spent many years training with the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence at the Tamihi Rapids throughout the 1980's and 1990's. Rich left our small community too early in an incident on the White Salmon River in Washington a year after his tremendous 5th place performance at the 1996 Olympics.

The Rich Weiss Race is part of the NW Cup Series and is used as a gauge every year by our BC Slalom Team members as they prepare for National Team Selections and the upcoming race season.

Open to all whitewater paddlers, this race is not only competitive but a fun way to test your skills against some of our young slalom stars AND former slalom stars.

Competitive and recreational classes available. To compete as a BC athlete in the competitive category, you must be registered as a CKBC Competitive Member. Out of province competitive members must be registered as a competitive member with a CKC affiliated slalom club.
